Rev. Daniel Meeter

The Rev. Dr. Daniel Meeter is pastor and teacher at Old First. He was ordained to the Reformed Church ministry in 1980, and has served churches in New Jersey, Michigan, and Ontario. He earned a Ph.D. from Drew University in 1989, and has published two technical books in theology as well as many
articles. He is married to Rev. Melody Takken Meeter, who is director of pastoral care at the Lutheran Medical Center of Brooklyn. They have two married children, Nicholas (with Stefanie) and Anneke (with Chouaib) They have a grandson Emil Valentin, in Hannover, Germany. Daniel is interested in everything, but his special loves are classical music, architecture, languages, geography, and the borough of Brooklyn. Aleeza Meir

Aleeza Meir is a pianist, organist and harpsichordist. Her career has included performances in a wide variety of venues and capacities, ranging from concerto soloist to continuo player, as well as music festivals in France and the Czech Republic. She placed second in the 1988 Otto B. Schoepfle National Organ Competition at Oberlin, and in the 1998 International Piano Masterclass of Bechyne Festival Competition in Bechyne, Czech Republic.
Ms. Meir has appeared with performers and conductors including Edward Carroll, Frank Campos, Linda Case, John Cleese, David Griggs-Janower, G. Roberts Kolb, Jan Opalach, Yoonhee Shim, Scott Tucker, Jayne West, the Alpha Quartet, Albany Pro Musica, Cornell Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, and the Cayuga Vocal Ensemble (where she serves on the board of directors). Before moving to NYC, she was staff pianist for the Ithaca College School of Music. Besides her position at Old First, Ms. Meir is on the artistic staff of the Boys Choir of Harlem, and also enjoys an active concert schedule.
